Expedia.com(R), the world's leading online travel service, is launching The Expedia(R) Fall Cruise Spectacular(1) for sailings from November 26, 2004 to March 31, 2005. And for the first time, Expedia will be partnering with Visa(R). The Expedia Fall Cruise Spectacular will offer customers spectacular deals on cruises of all types and lengths that are booked from now until October 29, 2004 for sailings from November 2004 to March 2005. The Expedia Fall Cruise Spectacular will also offer customers the chance to receive a Visa(R) Gift Card reward, ranging from $25 to $300, based on the length of the cruise and cabin category.
Some of the special booking deals in the Expedia(R) Fall Cruise Spectacular, in addition to the Visa Gift Card offer, include the following incentives with qualifying bookings:
-- Crystal Cruises: Web-exclusive offer of up to $600 shipboard credit per cabin, plus $200 off select sailings to top destinations. -- Windstar: Web-exclusive offer of up to $300 shipboard credit per cabin on sailings. -- Carnival: Rates from $299 on Carnival sailings to the Caribbean, Mexico, Bahamas and more. -- Radisson Seven Seas: Two-for-one savings on select Caribbean and Panama Canal sailings.(2) -- Holland America: Rates from $399 on select Mexico and Caribbean sailings on the Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, and Westerdam ships. -- Disney Cruise Lines: Cruise the Caribbean aboard the Disney Magic(R) or Disney Wonder(R) with low rates from $399.
In addition to these spectacular deals, customers who book an outside cabin or higher during the promotion will receive a Visa Gift Card reward based on the length of their cruise and cabin category. For example, an outside cabin for a one-week cruise can earn a cruiser a $50 bonus; a suite for 10+ nights can earn someone $300. Cruisers will receive their Visa Gift Card approximately four to six weeks after the completion of their sailing to be used anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted.
"We are excited to bring even greater benefits to our customers through our program with Visa. At Expedia, you can find the world's best cruise choices with the world's greatest cruise lines, and this program makes purchasing even easier," said Mark Kammerer, vice president, cruises, Expedia, Inc. "Industry studies show nearly 40 percent of travelers prepare for a cruise four to six months in advance, so the time is right for great deals leading into 2005."
And booking a cruise on Expedia just keeps getting better! In addition to the Cruise Spectacular, Expedia is rolling out its own cruise reviews -- offering helpful information about particular ships that you can't find anywhere else online. Similar to hotel star ratings, these unique cruise reviews give customers in-depth, unbiased information on "who should go" on the ship, hits and misses, how to meet the captain, restaurant reviews, comments "heard on deck," entertainment, shopping, spa/fitness and "kids stuff."
Other new features also help travelers book a better cruise: -- More Photos and 360-Degree Tours: View main rooms, individual rooms, parts of the deck, new cabin layout diagrams to-scale, deck diagrams, and detailed descriptions of amenities offered. -- More Flexible Search Results: Find more room types to choose from (new balcony and suite options), date flexibility (choose all dates or a particular month you want to depart), and default pricing for double occupancy. -- More Cruise Calendars: Learn details about each cruise ship and its sailing destinations to choose cruise lines that fit any desired time frame and destination.
Some of the spectacular sailings offered from November 2004 to March 2005 include the following:
-- Caribbean Vacations: Book a three-night getaway in the Bahamas this January aboard the Carnival Fantasy Ship (four stars) for $269/person. Or head out in December for a seven-night Caribbean cruise on Windstar's Wind Surf (four and a half stars) from $1,395/person. -- Magic of Disney: Climb aboard the Disney Wonder (four and a half stars) in January for a three-night trip to the Caribbean for $399/person. Or take the Disney Magic (four and a half stars), which sails on a seven-night cruise through the Cayman Islands, Mexico and the Bahamas in January for $1,119/person. -- Southern Comfort: Visit French Polynesia on a seven-night South Pacific adventure aboard the five-star Wind Star ship for $2,100/person. Or travel to South America for 17 nights aboard the Crystal Symphony (five stars) for $3,995/person with stops in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil. -- Voyage to Asia: Take an 18-night cruise this February on the five-star Crystal Harmony. Travel from Los Angeles to Hong Kong, making stops in Honolulu, Hawaii and Yokohama, Japan along the way for $2,695/person.
